The nectar-like teachings of the Divine Master, Sri Swami Sivananda, one of the foremost sages of modern India, are well known to his numerous followers around the world. He encapsulated all of Yoga in six steps: Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate and Realise. The Yoga of service or Karma Yoga, is the subject of this book, which first appeared in 1936. This book has significant historic value for Divine Life Society of South Africa, for it is through this book that Sri V. Srinvasan, who later became Sri Swami Sahajananda—Spiritual Head of Divine Life Society for 58 years until his Mahasamadhi in 2007, came into contact with his Guru, Sri Swami Sivananda. Sri Srinivasan henceforth began corresponding with the Divine Master and following his instructions. Swami Sivananda instructed him to open a branch of Divine Life Society in South Africa in the year 1949. It was thus deemed appropriate to reprint this volume on the 60th Anniversary of Divine Life Society of South Africa. The book was officially released at the historic Sivananda Diamond Jubilee Conference which was held from 5-7 June 2009.
